Extended Session #3 — School Libraries and the Common Core Standards – A Match Made in Heaven

The Department of Education is requiring all schools to meet the Citywide Instructional Expectations as initial steps in the implementation of Common Core standards. In this extended session, learn how to use the newly created alignment of Common Core Standards with the Information Fluency Continuum to position yourself as the “go-to” person for reaching the Citywide Instructional Expectation for literacy outlined by the DOE.

Olga Nesi was the librarian at I.S. 281 - Joseph B. Cavallaro in Brooklyn, N.Y. for eleven years. She recently joined the Office of Library Services as a Coordinator. For the past four years she has also been an adjunct lecturer for the Queens College Graduate School of Library and Information Studies. In a distant life, she managed bookstores for ten years.
